Born Free

Diffused in a cultural hybrid
The struggle has shifted to the cultural frontier
What to do?
Purity or self-education for integration?

I make excuses for my lack of perfection
Wear our preconceived
Thus misconceived multiculturalism
Like a stigma that it is.

Stones have been thrown at the pioneers
The icebreakers
The new breed
Who are said to be born free.
Incubator children
Struggling to let out a breath
Least they betray
Speak of the next chapter
In times of timid mediocrities

Whilst we chase rainbows
In times of drought
These so called protected beings
Groomed for only success
Even though failure is part of growth.
They are said to be born free
With the burden of a history
Misinterpreted thus misunderstood.

The future tellers
Bearers of histories to come
Chosen to be mediators
Always in transit
Cursed to be traitors or masters
Depending on the sympathisers.
